Kubera is a shared deity in Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain traditions; with each sharing commonalities; the three also have their specific interpretations to him. Painted traditionally in the Tibetian Thangka style - this mural of Kubera depicts him seated on his regal throne. Looking to the side, his big belly is the representation of the abundance associated with him, and the mongoose in his hand is an antagonist to the Nagas (guardians of treasure) - just like the Garuda on top, consuming two snakes. Kubera, who’s the lord of Yakshas is accompanied by two Herukas on the upper corners and Vajrapani, Mahakala on the lower ones. Set in a blue hue, the colors of this painting are a rich mix of dark and light!
