In this magnificent traditional Tanjore painting, the great goddess Saraswati appears in all her glory, embodying the beauty of creativity. Devi Saraswati’s throne is located in an arched hall, with pillars marked by parrots- birds that symbolize retaining of wisdom. Chaturbhuja Devi Saraswati sits on a delicate lotus flower, in Lalitasana (posture of royal ease). The attire and ornamentation of the goddess are otherworldly- her white saree embellished with 24 karat gold to give in a luxurious appeal, her crown and jewels intricately adorned with tiny gems and pearls. The backdrop of this artwork has solid deep red and blue, against which the ethereal roopa of Veenavadini is brought to the human realm.
