The Swayambhu peak glitters against the rays of the setting sun. It is a peak of the upper Himalayan range located in Nepal. This painting captures a view of the Swayambhu as, to the eye, it nestles within the verdant ridges of the lower range of the Himalayas.
Clouds of translucent white mist distinguish the rock bodies. At the centre of the canvas, poised atop a mountain, is a pristine stone stoopa. One may discern the colourful om-mani-padme-hm flags streaming from the zenith of the stoopa. Between this and plantations in the foreground are rows upon rows of homes with slanting roofs.
Jewel tones predominate the colour palette. The plantations are like striated emeralds, whereas the fields and mountains beyond are a solid glittering green. Like the crowning glory of the composition, Swayambhu itself has the fiery glow of a rare ruby.
