Surya, the Sun god in Hinduism is the primordial and supreme source of life. In the Rig Vedic period, it is Surya who is the origin of divine beings and his various expansions and forms are revered to attain youth, power, wealth, fame, confidence, and pure wisdom. In this oil painting, Surya Bhagawan is revered as the Adi Deva (first god) in his two-armed form, with splendid ornaments, holding a conch and discus (attributes which he shares with Sri Vishnu). A halo of brilliance surrounds Surya, exalting him as the source of life and light.
