On a strip of white linen stands a jug and a pot. With its fat middle and stunted neck, it is clearly a milk-jug. It is poised on what appears to be a brass stand. A ceramic embossing around the neck of the millk-jug. The teapot right next to the milk-jug has been just set down on the linen.
The body of the teapot is a dark, ashen colour. From the texture conveyed by the brushstrokes on its body, it is a dainty, porcelain work of art. Its colour contrasts sharply with that of the pristine milk-jug. An unusual pastel gradient gives the impression of a play of light upon its body.
A richly textured background in beige colour, which at once complements and sets off the colour scheme of the jug and pot. The folds of the milk-white linen beneath them, however, is the most realistic part of the composition.
