Shirdi Sai Baba was considered a great saint respected by both Hindu and Muslim devotees who taught everyone to aspire for spiritual enlightenment. His teachings “Sabka Malik Ek” (God is one) is still followed by his devotees. He emphasized mainly on the importance of self-realization and to decrease our material attachments which are temporary. Loved and admired by all the inhabitants of Shirdi, he lived a renounced life.
Clad in a simple cloth reaching to his knees, Sai Baba is seated on a beautiful throne with armrests in the shape of an elephant head on either side, with his right leg placed on the other knee. Adorned with a small crown and the gentle expression on his bearded face represents his kind and merciful attitude towards every living entity. He affectionately raises his right hand to shower his blessings on to the devotees, while the other hand touches the right foot. The arch (Prabhavali) surrounding him is designed in typical South Indian motifs. This simple yet elegant painting has been precisely embellished with 24 Karat gold and the way green and red stones have been embedded in the coating appears just perfect.
