Ya Devi Sarvabhuteshu, these three words are apt reverence to Goddess Durga or Sherawali Maa's stature. The mother of all living beings is the one who rides the lion. This picture by Sneha Singh represents the Goddess with a peaceful countenance, eyes closed as if in concentration, and holding the Trident as if preparing to kill the monster of confusion and ignorance with it. She sits with a halo of light around her, wheeling the Devi Mantra and creating a holy atmosphere. Her Uttari flows and wraps the lion and herself as if it were a protective covering. The lion's ferocity, in contrast to the Goddess's serene stature, represents the two sides of the deity, a destroyer of darkness and a preserver of goodness. This artwork, a superb example of fine color-play, may enhance the appearance of a place while also providing the viewer with a sense of protection provided by the deity.
