This vibrant painting uses the architectural elements; nature as background, and beauty of women as part of its composition. The roof above the angular terrace is supported by slim pillars, made more attractive by the transparent drapes. The dense vegetation beyond indicates that this is a secluded part of the palatial quarters. The lady resting against a bolster is indulging herself, getting her hands painted with henna, some kinds of paste being applied on the soles of the feet. The maid-in-waiting complies with the whims of the lady. She is dressed simply, unlike the lady who wears brilliant coloured clothes and regal ornaments. Both of them are seated on the black floor with golden inlay work. On the floor, in the foreground are items of luxury-a hookah, wine casket and cups, fruits etc.
The artist has used varying elements in the painting, none of them, however clash. He also maintains the colour harmony, thereby, making it a visually pleasurable work of art.
