A narrow avenue, chock-blocked with cars and pedestrians. The roads are slippery and wet, having become somewhat of a mirror from the pelting rainshowers. In the centre of the canvas, a couple of vehicles with their parklights on so as to be visible through the rain.
The painting that you see on this page is characterised by brushstrokes that, despite retaining their austere individuality, seemingly blend into each other through the careful use of paint. This gives the impression of a mildly unclear view, one that is blurred by rain.
Walls of bare brick and concrete on either side of the canvas. Streetlamps of a vintage sculpture. Pedestrians by the sides, their clothes and umbrella discernible, but barely so. Such a visual impression requires a great deal of skill on the part of the painter who reproduces it on canvas.
