It is a quiet lane, just off the highway. In the suburbs, from the looks of it. Heavy rainshowers from a while ago still render the sky overcast. The birds had just found it fit to fly across the heavens homewards. Below, along the road, a couple of pedestrians. Two cyclists in the distance. Two cars headed the opposite direction.
Unassuming, almost mundane. Not much to detail in this fascinatingly realistic yet borderline surreal painting. The realistic quality is in the elements that make up this painting, described heretofore. The surreal is in the execution.
The way the blue skies pierce through the colloidal clouds. The colours of vehicular wheels blend into the mirror-like asphalt beneath them. The human figures are discernible, yet seemingly about to blend in with the dark canopies lining either side of the road.
