The faces of Radha-Krishna, Vrindavan’s timeless lovers, brought close together. Between them, merely the width of Krishna’s golden flute. The divine music emanating from the long, slender musical instrument draws Radha irreversibly towards Her handsome Lord. Neither could She bring Herself to meet His gaze, nor could He take His off Her.
A wealth of detail across the canvas. Krishna’s turban of amber-coloured silk. Radha’s engraved gold headpiece, indicative of Her divine status as Lakshmi. The jewel-and-diamond shringar of both. Pink and blue lotuses, a decidedly Vaishnaivite visual element.
Surrounding the lovers’ countenances, the motifs that fill up the canvas are painted in low-light colours. For example, the solemn blue of the peacock forms craning their neck up at the divine and the green of the foliage and peacock plumage.
