Deep in the woods surrounding Vrindavan, a union of the time-tested lovers of Hindu mythology. Radha and Krishna are joined together under a single, gold-rimmed halo. He gathers Her in His arms as She fondles the parrot He has produced before Her to amuse Her gentle, feminine heart.
The greenery in the background has been painted in great detail. Each overarching leaf and canopy is distinguished by a varying shade or tint of green. The setting sun leaves the sky in a pale crimson blush, on which the inky tropical darkness closes in tenderly.
Radha is clad in a gossamer lehenga of pink, orange, and gold. Krishna is in multicoloured silks and a garland of fresh flowers. On His head is a crown of resplendent gold, on which is a gold plume of the peacock. The painting is framed by a series of bovine motifs executed on a thick-edged, dull pink background.
