Padmasana Gajalakshmi Tanjore Painting | Traditional Colors With 24K Gold | Teakwood Frame | Gold & Wood | Handmade | Made In India
This jaw dropping Tanjore style painting displays Gajalakshmi, the ‘Goddess with Elephants’ or ‘One who is worshiped by Elephants’. She is one among the eight forms of Mahalakshmi known as Ashtalakshmi. In addition to material wealth such as money and property, Gajalakshmi is also considered as the giver of animal wealth and the bestower of power of royalty to her devotees.
Here, Goddess Gajalakshmi, attired in a bright red saree with a slight tinge of orange color, is seated on a throne in Ardha-padmasana. She is flanked on both sides by two beautiful white elephants known as Dig- gajas. Carrying a lotus flower in each of her upper hands, the lower left hand being in Varada mudra while the right in Abhaya mudra, which pours a stream of gold coins downward, she exhibits her merciful nature. A pot full of those coins is placed on her right thigh. She is elaborately adorned with several jewels including a huge crown on her head, behind which, an aureole can also be seen. The intricate detailing on the Prabhavali and the prominent use of 24 Karat gold coating and studded stones to beautify this painting is undoubtedly appealing and eye-catching.
