Batik is the art of waxing and dying peculiar to Asia. India excels in this craft due to a guild of dedicated and skilled artists. The country itself is a land of spirituality and art in various forms tries to cater to religious sentiments and therefore the devotional themes. Gods and goddesses abound in the art of batik as in any other form.

This batik work is conspicuous by the tranquility associated with Sai Baba. It is not only the calm on his face and posture that reflect it, but also the judicious use of colours. The saint is seated on a rock with one hand casually holding his foot and the other raised in a gesture of blessing. This representation is a glimpse of the glory of an individual who is eternally free one with the perfect state of Brahman. As in his real life he is shown wearing a kafni of coarse cotton clothe and a similar piece around his head. A white halo surrounds the head of the saint whom no one can state with certainty whether he was originally a Brahmin or was born a Muslim.

Like mentioned earlier it is not just the serene image but the ambience around him that gives the peaceful effect. The pink and blue in the background are dyed in such harmony that it gives the impression of a still night. The artist has sprinkled white dots in the sky to make it look like a starlit night. Small random flowers in the foreground are attractive props.
