On this high quality canvas, the painter has displayed his master strokes in oil paints to achieve this image of Ganesha seated in lalitasana. As in most images, his right hand is raised in abhaya mudra indicating reassurance; the upper one holding the elephant goad. The upper left hand carries the noose as well as the lotus; the lower hand carrying a bowl full of modakas. His trunk coils around a modaka which will soon add to the numerous already in his protruding belly. Starting from his crown, all his ornaments are ostentatious.
Speaking of ornaments, all that is metallic is raised in slight relief and painted in shining gold. The Jewellery is encrusted with coloured glass, cut in shapes similar to those of gems, which the glass replaces. It is less a matter of how precious but how aesthetically the colours, the glass and the golden paint have been dealt with together that counts more.
