On a brilliant blue base is painted the exuberant Warli life. Within a decorated square 'chowk' is placed the deity 'Palghat', without whom no marriage can take place. The sun, the moon, the lamp etc. form part of the wedding ensemble. Human, plants, animals, the cosmos are important enough to be painted along with the goddess. Beneath the 'chowk' is a flurry of activity. Each figure seems to be doing something that accounts for the absence of stillness or stagnation. There is dancing, playing of musical instruments and general celebration of life. The only animal in the lower half of the painting is a horse, which, in the Warli social milieu is considered a symbol of power and valour. The trees are stylized - their basic shapes having been drawn from nature.
