Mahavidya Tantric Goddess Tara Painting | Watercolor on Paper

$295

This renowned artwork of Tantric Goddess Mahavidya Tara standing on Rati and Kama, the primordial desire that gives rise to all creation, is a symbolic depiction of the deities' abilities to terminate the cycle of desire through her supreme might. She is seen wearing a garland of human head signifying her patronage over wisdom. Her blood-red tongue depicts Raja-guna's strength, the energy force that propels all activities. The sacrificial sword and severed head are symbols of dissolution and destruction, directing the Sadhaka to let rid of his 'ego sense'. Karma, or behaviour, is represented by the girdle of severed hands. She is also holding a lotus, a symbol of knowledge.

The painting's focal point is Rati and Kamas' bodies lying on a large lotus, with the lotus in the middle of nowhere, symbolising the enormous universe. This artwork depicts the Goddess in a religious manner, inviting worshippers to connect with her transformational power and achieve spiritual emancipation.
