Lord Krishna is the reservoir of all pleasures and His Vrindavan pastimes are always loved by everyone. Although He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, He appeared on the earth just like an ordinary child and performed uncommon activities which were always an astonishment for all the residents of Vrindavan including Mother Yashoda. When He played His divine flute, even the animals experienced the highest form of pleasure and entered into the state of trance. Everyone loved Him with all their heart and soul and in return, He gave them the highest form of pleasure; pure bliss.
Gopala Bala stands on an elevated platform and places His arms on His belly. With a slight tilt in His delicate neck, Krishna brings a soft and gentle smile on His moonlike face which is even sweeter than honey. Mother Yashoda has dressed her sweet child with a perfectly pleated dhoti down to His ankles and adorned with several jewels and a peacock feather on His head. The Kaustubha gem in His necklace is as effulgent as the glowing sun. He holds His flute in His right hand. Whoever sees Krishna sees not just Him but a grand celebration because He is the source of everything. Every bit of this painting has been embellished with pure gold coating and sequences of red and green stones which makes Tanjore artwork stand out from the other ordinary ones.
