Whenever we think of love between two souls, the bond between Lord Krishna and Radharani comes into our mind. But our Vedic scriptures again and again clarify the misconception of people who think that love between them was mundane. Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is beyond the modes of material nature and Srimati Radharani, who is His internal potency, is also above the material platform. In Goloka Vrindavan, which is the abode of Lord Krishna, She is always engaged in His service with pure love and devotion. Krishna is the source of all pleasure but Radharani is the one who gives pleasure to Krishna. Since She is the divine energy of the Lord, they can never be separated from each other.
The glowing Tanjore painting that you see here depicts the All-Attractive Lord Krishna with His beautiful bodily features. All the residents of Vrindavan loved Him with all their heart and soul, and always remained very eager to see Him. He stands in His most attractive Tribhanga stance (three-fold-bending form), his left leg crossed over at the right ankle. Clad in a bright yellow dhoti down to His ankles and a golden dupatta worn over His waist and shoulders, He places His right hand holding His divine flute on His curvaceous waist and slightly tilts His delicate neck to one side. His moonlike face bears a gentle smile which is very pleasing to see. He adorned with several jewels on His fair-complexioned body and bears a peacock feather on the head. His left hand touches the waist of the most chaste and beautiful gopi, Srimati Radharani. She is gracefully attired in a saree and is ornamented with several jewels. In order to please Krishna, She has adorned her head with a peacock feather. Although Krishna is the source of all the beauty, Radharani defeats Him in this aspect. Her molten gold complexion appears just like the glowing sun. Also, note that this painting has been majorly embellished with pure gold work and bright colors for the beautification, which is the characteristic feature of Tanjore style artwork.
