This pata painting holds the main theme within a circular frame inside a square one. Radha and Krishna are in an embrace, as the gopis look on, enraptured. The animals, birds and humans are equally delighted by them. The artist has divided the rest of the pictorial space into square compartments, depicting incidents from the life of Krishna, starting from his dramatic birth. It includes Krishna slaying Putna, the demons Vastsasura, Bakasura, Trinavarta and many more and of course, subduing Kaliya, the serpent, which forms the most interesting episode.
The pictorial narrative is all encompassing but what also needs mention are the decorative borders around the central theme and the square fragments. The outermost border includes creatures of the sea, earth and the sky.
