A great many illustrations of yore deal with war and siege. Pictures, such as this one, crackle with energy, carrying the observer into the action. The artist possesses such a creative imagination that he has envisioned episodes such as this, making every gesture and expression convincing.

This miniature is one of the dramatic portrayals of armed combat. Each of the paintings figures is charged with a sense of dynamism that is accentuated by the image's bold colours and exciting juxtaposition. In this face to face battle, the attackers are on horsebacks and the engagement is fought mainly with swords. They are met with a brave resistance by the defenders. The fort is protected on all sides by a rocky area. The soldiers atop the fort, through not engaged in actual battle, show aggression and ferocity, conveying to the attackers that they will not give in easily. A handful who are on the ground also show courage and determination

The artist has given them similar attire, and features also seldom vary. He has used numerous colours but they are not brilliant. On close observation, we notice that most men are holding swords in their left hands which suggests that the artist himself was a left hander and thus it came naturally for him to portray as such.

Calligraphy on both sides enhances the beauty of the picture and provides a relief from the grim picture of the battle.
