The epic painting that you see on this page is the unmatched artform of Madhubani village of Bihar state in India. This artwork is special because of the use of natural dyes and vibrant colors on handmade paper treated with cow dung so that the colors perfectly bind on to the paper. The most astonishing characteristic of this painting is that no space has been left blank and is full of intricate patterns and geometrical compositions, and the result is not just an ordinary art but a celebration.
Here, the beautiful pastime of Lord Krishna in Vrindavan has been appealingly portrayed. Although He is the Supreme Lord, He appeared on the earth just as an ordinary child to please His devotees. His naughty childish activities were very pleasing for all the inhabitants of Vrindavan. Krishna was very fond of eating butter and would go to every house to steal it from the pots. As you can see here, the all-attractive Krishna is enjoying the delicious fresh butter from the pot and He gets caught by two beautifully dressed gopis. They get astonished and one of them pulls Krishna’s ear and chastise Him. Whenever He used to get caught, He would make a pitiable face and ultimately the gopis would let Him eat the churned butter. In this way, they always experienced the highest state of bliss by participating in Krishna’s pastimes of stealing butter.
