A partially visible Vaishnavite temple on the shore of the calm river is eye-catching. The clear sky has various shades of blue; the tree in spring providing shade to man, beast and bird alike. Also seen, besides the deity are a peacock, the most beautiful of birds and a cow, defining Krishna's status as a cowherd. Green and orange blend well in the foreground.
Amidst this natural beauty stands Krishna, playing the flute less to please himself, more to attract the 'gopis'. Although the canvas is devoid of cowherd girls, his purpose of fluting remains the same. A magnificient crown sits on his head in all its glory. He wears suitable ornaments and a long garland of wild flowers. The green shoulder cloth falls around his shoulder and arms in numerous folds as does the red lower garment that falls at the Lord's feet. The perfectly round face of Krishna is complemented by almond shaped eyes, a shapely nose and a mouth that gives an impression of a suppressed smile.
