Lion, the most impressive among large cats, is a formidable predator with a strong, muscular body; lithe and agile. The lion's head on the plate shows it with its majestic mane. On observation, one notices the strong jaw-line, armed with long canine teeth. The eyes are honey brown and deceptively gentle. They are deep dug and staring fearlessly into the viewer's eyes. The hair using various tones of ochre shows that many brush types have been used for different strokes. Some long and sturdy, others short and quick. The sharp and prickly hair coming out of the pores can be viewed. The flared nostrils tell a tale of its strength and ferocious predatory nature.
Providing general information, lions are widespread across Gir Forest in northern India. They are legendary amongst hunting animals as much for their strength and ferocity as for their lithe and agile body.
