True to this new style, the prince is shown in a conventional portrait manner, standing in a profile against a pale green ground. The face is rendered according to stylised convention on which individual personalities are shown by means of their characteristics or cognitive attributes and the role he occupies. The face shown in profile is given volume by light stippling in a darker skin shade, along the jawline. His character is suggested by the determined set of his chin and steady gaze. He is dressed in a transparent jama with golden flowers embossed on it. His blue pyjama is complemented by the pink angavastram he has thrown around his neck and over the shoulder. The colourful waistband and the striped turban has used the golden colour liberally. The aigrette and the plume decorate the fancy turban. The pose is quite static with his arm resting on the dainty branch of the flowering tree, bearing light pink flowers. The tree is painted spreading roots above the ground. Flowers are sprouting all over in the foreground - orange, pink and yellow in colour. The horizon is shown with the help of a few pink and blue horizontal lines which is the only definite Mughal element.
