“Building a nest
Selecting piece by piece
Twig by twig
The foundation for new life”
“Ghosla” (nest) in Indian poetry and writings has often been synonymous for a new home for the lovers, families and friends, who seek a space to call their own, a shelter and sanctuary from the world. This acrylic on canvas is an ode to the beauty and warmth of a nest, built by a couple, a man and a woman who sit in close proximity, gazing at the sky. Ranjith Raghupathy has given their forms a withered effect, probably as battle marks, from braving life and the world in their quest for a nest. The gentle pink background diverges from the image of the couple and the lower section of the canvas, adding a hint of contrasting charm to the artwork. The bird pair in the sky appear to be flying towards their Ghosla, a moving reminder of a universal need for a nest.
