Guru Padmasambhava, also known as the "Lotus-Born," was a venerated figure in Tibetan Buddhism, noted for his profound understanding and loving leadership. Guru Padmasambhava is a symbol of enlightenment and spiritual transformation, well-known for his mastery of Tantric teachings and his crucial role in founding Tibetan Buddhism.
He is depicted clutching a five-pointed vajra in his right hand, which stands for the five kayas of the anuttarayoga tantra and the five Buddhas of the cosmic directions. The skullcup, or Kapala, he is holding, on the other hand, symbolizes the passage from delusion to complete consciousness. Moreover, the skull stands for both profound happiness and impermanence. In addition, he has a tantric staff—also referred to as a Khatcanga—held in the crook of his left arm, which is a ceremonial tool.
