The Sikhs have a long history of Gurus, who have preached the oneness of God. Guru Nanak founded the religion and a line of ten gurus who followed and spread the faith.

Guru Harkrishan was the eighth guru, succeeding his father at the young age of five. In an oval frame stands the lad who was blessed with divine and supernatural powers. He wears a blue cloak over a golden chola, a turban that is richly ornamented - simple yet elegant. The innocence of a young boy can be seen on his face, the chubbiness of childhood, the expression of wonder and awe in the wide eyes. Behind the veil of this humble body lay superior knowledge, the courage and divine energy. Around his head is the aura defining his holy status.

The artist has used soft colours and clever shading technique to give volume and rounded softness to the face. The golden hue of the pupils bring about the innocence.
