Here Siva is depicted as beautiful, with a third eye in the center of his forehead and a crescent moon on his brow. He is crowned with matted hair, within which is depicted a flowing river symbolizing the Ganges. Here Ganga as a devi is also shown together with the representational stream of water flowing down his hair. This goddess is said to have landed on Siva's hair when she fell from heaven to earth. He is shown smeared with ashes and adorned with strings of Rudraksha beads, snakes around his neck and also as his armlets. He is wearing a tiger skin and sitting on one too. Two of his four arms hold a trident and a conch shell. To the head of the trident is tied his hourglass shaped drum (the damaru) with a red band. Siva 's right arm rests on the danda that assists the ascetics in meditation. In this hand he also holds a rosary made of Rudraksha beads. The left hand simply rests on his knee.
