Leading the way of Enlightenment and wisdom to her devotees, Goddess White Tara embodies compassion and blesses those who are devoted to her with a long and healthy life. In this Thangka Painting, White Tara (Sveta Tara) is portrayed in a sitting position, dressed and crowned like a Bodhisattva with an extra eye on her forehead. White Tara holds seven eyes, the one on the forehead represents the power of knowledge while the remaining ones are peculiarly on the face, one each on the palm and soles. The colours have been used in a gradient form varying from darker shades to light. She is often brought home and worshipped to seek her blessings for an extended lifespan and protection from obstacles. Goddess White Tara is the symbol of compassion and nurturing aspect of enlightened beings.
