In the Dhyan-stuti of Tripurasundri, her Tantric worship begins with envisioning the goddess as a beautiful, young female, adorned all over and ecstatically smiling with the nectar of life, ready to bring Kama or desire back to life. This aspect of the goddess is also called Mahakameshwari or the goddess of Kama and appears to be the inspiration behind this divine artwork.
Tripurasundari in Hindu-Tantra and Shakta traditions is the mother of all beings, the origin of auspiciousness, and the most beautiful being in three realms. She brings an end to inauspiciousness by starting Srishti (creation), she rejuvenates Kama (the Lord of Desire and Action), her throne is held by Brahma, Vishnu, Rudra and Sadashiva and she is attended by Lakshmi and Saraswati. On a platform carried by the four deities, Tirpurasundari sits in a unique pose, with her legs dangling in the front, on a lotus spread placed on Shiva. Golden ornaments, the Sun and Moon, Japakusum (hibiscus flower), a garland of lotuses, and a red saree- symbols of femininity and grandeur, adorn the primordial mother, who holds an Ankusha (goad), flower arrows, Paasha (noose) and a Sugarcane bow- attributes that cause and control desire.
