The big circle in the painting represents manifestation. Within the circle is an overlay of colors shades of which are orange, yellow, red, and blue, typical of Madhubani paintings. A hexagram is also present in this overlay which signifies the union of male and female powers and divinity. The hexagram also appears to be surrounded by lotus petals (top view) in various lively colors. Lakshmi’s main image is depicted with 18 hands which are all holding a sacred item or mudra significant to Hinduism. Some of the emblems on the hands include the lotus, a pot, book, bell, rosary beads, shield, bow and arrow, sword, trident, a noose, skull cap, and a drum. She can also be seen doing a blessing and admonition mudra. She is also opulently dressed, fitting for a goddess of wealth. She wears a crown and a third eye can be seen on her forehead signifying her power to see past through the material world and to the divine.
