Ganesha's two consorts are Buddhi and Siddhi, the two beautiful daughters of Brahma. Buddhi leads to union with the lord who is beyond all type of illusions and Siddhi represents illusion. In this miniature, Ganesha with an entirely red body is seated on a throne against the back of which is a large parasol which shades the head of the god. A satin tent on four simple pillars covers the god together with both his consorts. He is flanked by Buddhi on his right who offers him a tray of modakas. Ganesha partakes some with his long trunk and holds one in his hand. Siddhi stands behind him fanning him with a yak's tail and holds the napkin in her left hand. Both of them are simply dressed in long skirts, short cholis with odhinis covering their heads. The jewellery they wear is in no way ostentatious. Ganesha on the other hand wears a jewel studded crown, multiple necklaces, armlets bangles and anklets. He uses the normal two hands in partaking the modakas. He holds the axe in one hand and the other hand is on the hilt of the sword resting next to his legs.
The composition of the painting is balanced with the symmetrical foliage adding to it. The viewers eyes, as they move from left to right, see Ganesha's vahana, the mouse bowing at his feet. A basket of fruits lies to be eaten at a later time. In the right corner lie a low table with honey jars, tightly covered, together with a water jug on the floor. The painting follows the canons of the Kangra miniature paintings of the 18th century.
