The gods as protectors of justice and order carry in their hands different weapons. In this batik with a black background, we see Ganesha carrying an axe in one hand and a lotus in the other. In the above text, Ganesha receives a noose, an elephant good, a lotus and an axe from Vishwakarma, the architect of the gods. The normal left hand of Ganesha rests on the end of a mace. The Shiva Purana mentions that Ganesha defended the door of his mother's apartment, holding a mace. The single tusked Ganesha wears an ornate crown and other ornaments. His trunk turns inwards and holds a modakas. Ganesha sits on the rat is black in colour and massive in proportion to the elephant god.
The artist chose a black background to showcase the brilliant colours of the protagonist, but quickly paints the foreground green to accommodate the black rat.
