The matchless beauty of the Phewa (Fewa) Lake. Snowfed gorgeousness in the hinterland of Nepal, districts Pokhara, Sarangkot, and Kaskikot, to be precise. In the foreground, a woman of Nepal quietly rows across the clear bosom of the Phewa (deducible from her headgear).
The canvas is sharply divided into two panels. In the distance (upper section), the sunlit Annapurna and the snow-capped peaks surrounding her. Afore the upper range of the Himalayas, verdant ridges of the middle to lower range, settlements nestling within them. The woman in the foreground belongs to one of these settlements.
But for the details pertaining to the conifers and the sharp architectural silhouette, the lower section is a reflection of the upper section described heretofore. As such, this oil painting captures the striking natural beauty of the Phewa Lake.
