An oil painting of the world of the Sherpa. The glacial upper range of the Himalayas forms the focus of this painting. From amidst the same rises Mount Everest. To the right of the lone Sherpa herding His oxen is the middle Himalayan range. Not glacial, but harsh; all rock and luxuriant mist, but no verdure. The foreground features the lower range. As such, it is dotted with coniferous forests of characteristic shape and colour on either side of the road. The sheer multitude of colour and texture in the canvas makes this painting a worthwhile investment.
Almost at the central point of the canvas is a Buddhist stoopa. There is a quadrialteral harmika, followed by nine bhumis, in keeping with traditional stoopa architecture. Such stoopas are a common sight in the lower Himalayas. It rises from amongst a heap of boulders and, from its zenith, flow the ubiquitous, multicoloured flags of the om-mani-padme-hm mantra mantra.
