The golden Dhaulagiri glimmers like a ginormous jewel in the upper range of the Himalayas. Almost as luminescent as the sun itself, its rays lighting up the skies in tints of azure and gold as it sets. Afore it, luxuriant clouds of mist rising up from the riverine valley below, blocking view of the mountains betwixt the upper and lower range.
A Sherpa woman climbs up the stone pathway leading up to her home, with a basketful of produce on her back. Another at the threshold, laying out the laundry and the cooking prep. Austere brick walls and thatched roofs; atmost two storeys; solitary houses with fully functional outhouses and sheds for the animals; these things are characteristic of the architecture of Himalayan settlements.
Impressive swathes of plantation in the foreground. Like a coat of emeralds, this section of the painting has the same jewel-esque appeal as Dhaulagiri in the background.
