Handpainted with traditional Tanjore hues, delicately covered in 24-karat gold and meticulously infused with classical iconography, this Tanjore painting presents to the devotee the awe-inspiring scene of Sri Vishnu’s abode in Kshirasagara, where the blue-skinned Narayana resides with his twin Shaktis- Sridevi and Bhudevi. A textured red backdrop is used for the images of the three divinities- with Vishnu in the center, sitting in Lalitasana and Sridevi Lakshmi and Bhudevi, wrapped in red and green respectively, flanking their Lord.
The ornaments of all three of them are beautifully layered with glimmering gold, and their facial features are painted beautifully to give the images an enchanting animation. In the topmost section of the painting are Narada and Tumburu, the divine devotees of Vishnu, witnessing the blissful presence of their Lord, and the Kshirasagar underneath the coils of Sheshanaga can be seen in the foreground. Placed within an antiquated teakwood frame, this Tanjore painting gives you the Darshana of the most sacred Vishnu Loka.
