Krishna is the All-attractive Supreme Lord who descended on the earth like an ordinary man to please His devotees and engage them in His transcendental pastimes. Whoever hears or reads His Vrindavan pastimes simply enters into the state of trance. His uncommon and mystical activities astonished all the residents of Vrindavan. They loved Him with all their heart and soul, and Krishna, being the source of all pleasures, gave them the highest form of pleasure in return.
The painting that you see here is completely absorbed in pure love that represents the selfless relationship between Mother Yashoda and her sweet child Krishna. Although Yashoda was unaware of the fact that Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, she loved Him more than anything and anyone. This can be seen in this painting very well. She is attired in a bright red saree and golden blouse. Her black dense hair is gathered in a bun at the back which is adorned with a silver bun holder. She embraces baby Krishna who sits on her lap enjoying the motherly affection of Mother Yashoda. He is clad in a short-length dhoti and decorated with a peacock feather on His head. His blue complexion resembles the color of fresh monsoon clouds and the soft smile on His moonlike face gives Him an innocent look. Murlidhara Krishna holds His divine flute in the left hand. Anyone who sees this Tanjore style painting can feel the reciprocation of pure love that has been shown between Mother Yashoda and baby Krishna.
