Done up in a palette of every imaginable colour of the pastel spectrum, a dense cityscape projected on canvas. Tall buildings, uniform edges, rows of windows with no view to offer. The density of buildings progressively decreases from left to right (of the viewer) on the canvas.
The canvas is predominated by an abstraction of light and colour and brushstroke. It starts immediately on the roofs of the topmost buildings. On the upper right corner is a bit of pale ochre mixed into azure. The artist has skilfully created the visual impression of the cityscape disintegrating into this expressive mass. This begs the question, what does this riot of colour and texture express?
As such, this is a work of art that makes the viewer think. It is as inspiring to those of us who are city dwellers, as it is to those who are far from the milling crowd.
