This Authentic Nepalese Anklet (Set of 2) is made of silver and is called Kalli by the local Nepalese population. The Kalli anklet is a rare antique constructed of silver sheeting carved with repousse and scrollwork as floral motifs on the face, top, and bottom. The hollow anklet is terminated by two enormous mango-shaped bulbs. Nepali married ladies wore this sort of anklet till the birth of their first child. They are never constructed of gold as it is considered inauspicious to let the Gold metal, which is a sacred metal touch the ground or be dusty. These anklets are very rare these days and only a few women wear them as a marker of their tradition.
