Devavani meditation draws its antecedents from the ancient method given in the Old Testament called Glossolalia, Talking in Tongues.
The first stage is preparatory, in which the meditator listens to gentle music. In the second, s/he begins making baby-talk sounds like la, la, la. In the third stage, the meditator beings to move his or her body in rhythm with the sounds. The fourth is relaxation.
This meditation is best done just before sleep. With a regularity in practice it ensures a different depth and quality of sleep that the yogis call Yoga Nidra, in which the body sleeps but the witnessing consciousness remains awake.
