An echo of love & emotions- Manoj Kumar’s Shor written, Edited, Produced & Directed by Manoj Kumar Music: Laxmikant Pyarelal
“Shor” (noise) is the heartbeat of life. There are infinite varieties of it: there is “shor” (rejoicing) when a new life comes into the world; there is “shor” (willing) when an old life departs form it.
And in between, all of life is one long sound-track of “shor” itself. “Shor” is the story of one man, one common man like you, I and all the rest of us who comes to hate “shor”, to hate even the voices of people and their natural chatter and all because the one whose voice he longs to hear, the one he loves, cannot speak.
Shankar (Manoj Kumar) is that man, and Deepak (Master Satyajit) is that beloved one. “Shor” is not only their story; it is the story of many others too…
It is the story of Khan (Prem Nath), who says to Shankar: “Keep faith in the almighty. He gives, and takes back, and when he takes back, he can give again- so have faith”.
It is the story of Raat Ki Rani (Jaya Bhaduri) who says: “You tried to molest me! Give me all the money from your pockets or else I’ll scream!”
Story of Deepak (Master Satyajit), who says: “Oh God, if I do not get back my voice, what will happen to my Daddy? What will be Khan Uncle’s plight?”
Here then is a poignant and awe-inspiring tale about today’s hopes, faith, aspirations, frustrations, joys and sorrows, all dissolved in the crucible of “shor”.
“Shor” is the song of human emotions; it is the cry of humanity’ the call of the soul; the rejoicing of the human heart; the anguish of human sorrow.
