About the CD

Namaste
The world ‘Namas (Namah) in Sanskrit means ‘Bow’ or ‘Sallutations’. And ‘Te’ means ‘To You’. The meaning, ‘ I Bow To You’. Also a meaning of surrender and a sign of respect. Through this song Kenny and I reach out to our listeners with a unique combination of Kenny’s soulful saxophone and the celestial snatoor in an upbeat song welcoming the listener to our musical journey by saying ‘Namaste’

Brahma- Vishnu – Shiva
Brahma –The creator Vishnu- The preserver. Shiva- The destroyer! Together they form the Hindu Trinity: The Tri-Gods . The drone of the Tanpura and the chanting of ‘Om Shanti’ are used collectively to signify world peace. Music is a Universal language and through this song we spread the message of peace and brotherhood. By combining two different instruments from two different cultures. We speak a common language.

Dance of the Elephant God
The Elephants gracefully walk the Indian jungles, bathing in the rivers and splashing around like little Ganeshas! The Elephant God helps overcome all obstacles and this song expresses it beautifully. Lotus Lovers

The Lotus flower signifies divine purity and enlightenment in Buddhism, and wealth and rebirth in Hinduism. This song says that love is eternal and divinely pure.

Transcendental Consciousness
Deep meditative minds experience a unique state restful alertness. The body becomes deeply relaxed and the mind transcends all mental activity to experience the simplest form of awareness. Kenny and i feel the vibe in this song.

Valley of Flowers
The beautiful valley of flowers is high up in the garhwal himalayas surrounded by snowcapped peaks and with the rarest of flowers ever seen. This song expresses its beauty. Romance and the spectacular scenery. Kenny's sax and my santoor flow and interweave into each other's melodic notes in the serene beauty of the valley.

Silsila Featuring Amitabh Bachchan
This has always been one of my favourite songs! The combination of amitabhji's and lataji's voices and the amazing composition by shiv-hari still works like magic! The composition sounds really fresh when kenny and i play it a bit improvised at times and then retaining the original too. So in the end. You have a combination of kenny's sax, my santoor and amitabhji's voice! I hope the listener's who heard this composition in yash chopra's 'silsila' in the 80's enjoy it even now and i hope it appeals to the generation who haven't heard this song before.
