About the DVD
This DVD is a part of the Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival series presenting some of the greatest artistes of the world. The Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival was started by world renowned violinist Dr L Subramaniam and Viji Subramaniam in 1992, in the memory of his father and guru Professor V Lakshminarayana. Since its inception, the festival has established itself as a very strong musical force, presenting many great artistes including Yehudi Menuhin, Jean Luc Ponty, Billy Cobham, Ustad Bismillah Khan, Pandit Ram Narayan, Pandit Jasraj, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and Steven Seagal.

Professor V Lakshminarayana, in whose name this festival is conducted in India and around the world every year, was responsible for bringing the India violin to the international stage and introduced many masterful techniques. He was not only a great performer, but a great teacher as well, and has trained many great musicians. The Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival is now run by Dr L Subramaniam and Viji Global Arts, a registered charitable trust.

This volume begins with the inauguration of the Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival in 1992 with a prayer song by Bharat Ratna Smt. M S Subbulakshmi. It also features an outstanding rendition by Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan.
