Innumerable maestros, while reminiscing, talk about their decades long recording careers with us. With our reputation for quality and high standards, it has been a true partnership between the best musician in the country and ourselves, who carried their talent to the widest possible audience.

In continuation of that tradition, we bring you the series Introducing.

About the Artist

Meeta Pandit has won critical acclaim as one of the finest vocalists to take the stage of Hindustani classical music in recent years.

She is the sixth generation in the unbroken line of classical musicians of the legendary Pandits of Gwalior, and is widely acknowledged as the scion of the Gwalior Gharana, the fount of North Indian classical music. Her gayaki reflects the masterful tutorship of her illustration gurus, initially her grandfather, Padmabhushan Pt. Krishnarao Shankar Pandit, and Subsequently her father, Pt. Laxman Krishnarao Pandit.

Meeta’s voice is mellifluous – deep, rich, clear as a bell, with great power and a range spanning the three octaves. Her talent and rigorous taleem combine with her insight into her art to present us with an intricate weave of music, a tapestry of khayal, tappa, tarana and astapadi, a well as bhajan and thumri.

Meeta is a virtuous concert artist, delighting audiences in India and around the world. A doctor of Music, Meeta conducts workshops and hosts regular broadcasts. Thus, by spanning tradition and modernity, performance and teaching, she is able to reach out to a wide audience.

Meeta Pandit carries forward the over two hundred year old classical tradition of the Pandit of Gwalior with humility and grace.
