With silk as the base, the artist depicts the harem in varied brilliant colours. Exotic fruits, music, wine and women form the aphrodisiac surroundings. Wine is freely flowing and everyone is partaking it. The artist has used the pictorial space very wisely, placing groups of women at distance, seating them on separate small carpets. The women are wearing a similar kind of attire and jewellery. They all have oval faces, sharp features and attractive eyes. Looking their best in their finest finery, they are all vying for the king's attention. One particular beauty with a pink diaphanous odhini and a ghagra has caught his attention and he is luring her towards him. He is dressed in a long jama, tied at the waist with a sash, and wears a turban decorated with a sarpech and a plume. His moustache is a sign of machoism.
Resting against huge bolsters on rich carpets, they look relaxed and in a mood for merriment. The outer part of the terrace overlooking nature's beauty is divided from the inner portion by very fancy pillars forming curvaceous arches. This outer portion is fully carpeted with a single low bed lying on it. On the same carpet also lie some more wine, fruits and a candle stand. Beyond that is wonderment that is nature - varied vegetation, undulating, low hills and a colourful sky. The themes, the natural depiction, the architecture, all speak of beauty, luxury and richness.
