A decorative niche, having partially visible pillars houses the image of Vishnu. The artist perhaps did not want the structure to overshadow the image and so did not hesitate to conceal the dome and the rest of the pillars. Nevertheless, minute workmanship can be observed. On a multi-layered pedestal, Vishnu's image stands in all its glory. This is the sthanaka or the standing image of the Lord.
He is represented as a tall, handsome youth, dressed like an ancient king. The ornamentation, mainly consisting of the mukuta, the bracelets, armlets, earrings and the necklaces, is very delicate. His four arms hold characteristic emblems such as the conch, discus, lotus and mace. The symbolism of Vishnu's attributes is deeper than what meets the eye. However, the artist has managed to create a beautifully symbolic image in a similar environ.
