This heavily bejewelled, intoxicated lady, holds in her right hand a cup and in the left, a wine pitcher.
Her curvaceous bosom is concealed behind the tight fitting bodice, so tight that the tension and stretching in the fabric can be felt at the folds near her left shoulder. Though well concealed by her choli (ancient Indian version of the blouse), the viewer does get a faint idea of these well defined spheres behind the sheer cloth, and a brief peek at the nipples. Beneath these soft mounds lies her slim waist, followed by ample hips and heavy thighs whose fleshiness can be felt even above her tight fitting pants.
This is most probably a portrait of a 19th century prostitute and is the creation of Shri Pintu Nangalia, of Kishangarh, a small village one hundred km from Jaipur.
The painting is executed on mica, which after the worldwide ban on ivory is fast becoming the preferred medium.
