Staring outside the frame is a beauty in an oval frame in a rectangular painting. The eyes, the hair and the overall background gives it a very ethereal look. The eyes are perfectly shaped and look seductive. The nose is straight and the lips give a slight impression of a smile. The chin is rounded, giving the face a similar appearance. The forehead is wide. The hair begin as being well-groomed but by the time they reach the shoulders they run wild in all directions. She wears heavy earrings held in place by pearl strings, a studded necklace, and numerous strings of pearls and bangles occupy most of her forearm. In her delicate hand, she holds a dainty wine goblet - a deadly combination of wine and a woman. The shoulders are revealed but the rest of her naked body is concealed by a diaphanous material with a subtle impression of what lies beneath. Whatever can be seen, shows imperfect body contours.
This could have been a lively portrait imbued with sensitivity, but displays a certain harshness, perhaps due to an excessive idealization and modeling. But the soft color palette and the sensuality more than make up for it.
